Not sobriety. Recovery of sight.

In Fall 2013, a group of five college guys and I began to meet weekly to talk about their battles with sexual temptation. One of the guys, Brian, had been watching porn almost every day since high school.

One day after reaching three months free from porn he said to us, “Hey guys, pray for me…I think I’m called to enter seminary.” The whole room froze as everything stopped for me. It flipped my script on what we were about. It was then when I realized this is NOT a sobriety ministry. This is a ministry to recover men’s vision, for them to be free to see Jesus and listen to His call for them.

“He has sent me to proclaim liberty to captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free.”

                           -Jesus (Luke 4:18)

Since then the Holy Spirit has ignited Fight Club. I have seen it grow exponentially. I have seen guys experiencing two and three years free from porn while still in college. In seven years, I have seen 17 men discern into seminary or religious life from our Catholic Student Center and countless begin to court girlfriends while keeping Christ at the center.

Struggling with porn, masturbation, and chastity is not a male-only issue—women deal with this, too. What God has placed on my heart though is the call to lead men to fight for their love for God, love for their (future) brides, and love for their brothers.

Fight Club invites you not to a program or a temporary challenge. Built from the ground up by men who have fought before you and now with you, Fight Club invites you to a brotherhood of men who strive to fight for Christ daily.

The battle is upon us. Will you fight? In the wake of ever-growing sexual sin in the world, we must decide as men which side we want to be part of: the problem or the solution? Our Church is wounded, but saints arise during the darkest of times. If not you, who? If not now, when? Let’s fight!
